Wellspring offers an integrated, comprehensive approach to weight loss proven to help participants lose weight. On average, followers of Wellspring’s approach lose more than 3 lbs per week and keep the weight off long-term. No other program has continually demonstrated these initial and long-term results.
The reason Wellspring’s approach is so effective is because it is scientific, simple, and sustainable. Wellspring’s fitness and weight loss program utilizes decades of scientific research and the expertise of a Scientific Advisory Board. This is not a fad diet, fat camp, or boot camp approach. Rather, Wellspring teaches a healthy lifestyle proven effective by science. The simplicity is the focus on goal-setting, journaling, and a low fat diet that is both easy to manage and easy to implement. No complex carbohydrate to calorie ratios, but a simple monitoring of fat you eat each day. Best of all, Wellspring is a sustainable, lifelong approach. You’ll learn how to order and cook differently, how to react to stress appropriately, and how to respond to those days where you’re not at your best.
Low Fat Diet
At Wellspring, we focus on a low fat diet because science has proven it as an effective way to lose and maintain weight. Wellspring divides foods into two groups: controlled and uncontrolled foods. For the controlled, a typical day of 3 meals and 2 snacks will provide a healthy combination of calories, fiber, and nutrients. The average controlled daily food intake at Wellspring is 1200 calories and 10 - 12 grams a fat. Uncontrolled foods include as much fruit, salad, soup, cottage cheese, and yogurt as participants want, typically averaging an additional 400 calories and 4 – 8 grams of fat per day.
We provide culinary skills and nutrition education so you can continue to cook and order this way long after you’ve left our programs. Participants quickly learn Wellspring’s diet approach is healthy as well as delicious and nutritious.
Activity Management
Everyone at Wellspring wears a pedometer, with a target goal of 10,000 steps per day. At nearly 5 miles, nearly double that of the average person, 10,000 steps may seem like a lot. However, with ample opportunity to get active and different sports and activities throughout the day, participants find they easily exceed their target, sometimes averaging as much as 10 miles a day. Combined with fitness, weight, and aerobic training, you’ll learn to love being active.
Changing Lifestyles
The ultimate goal is for participants to learn a new, healthy lifestyle. We help achieve this goal by focusing on changing the behaviors proven for sustainable long-term weight control. Goal-setting, journaling, self-monitoring like a highly trained athlete are skills every participant learns. While in one of our Wellspring programs, participants receive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with masters- and doctoral-level therapists we call Behavioral Coaches. Together with your Behavioral Coach, you’ll learn stress management, frustration tolerance, and relapse training skills you’ll have for the rest of your life.
With Wellspring we help change attitude and outlook about the way you eat and exercise. The integration of diet, activity, and lifestyle change with a simple, scientific, and sustainable approach helps Wellspring participants lose more weight and keep it off better than any non-surgical approach.
