Scientists at the University of California/San Diego found a link between watching too much television and high blood pressure in obese children.
Dr. Jeffrey Schwimmer and his colleagues studied 546 obese children ages 4 to 17 years between 2003 and 2005. Those who watched two to four hours of television a day were 2.5 times more likely to have high blood pressure compared to those who watched less than two hours. The group that watched more than four hours was 3.3 times more likely to have hypertension.
