Within eight years some 75% of Americans will be overweight and over 40% will be obese, according to Dr. Youfa Wang, a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Dr. Wang believes that current trends toward obesity will continue to worsen. Between 1960 and 2000, women’s waistlines expanded by seven inches and men’s waists increased by four inches. About one-third of American children ages 6 to 19 years are now overweight.
Dr. Wang and his colleagues believe that Americans will face an increased morality rate of 66% within the decade.
